Good post, you should do them more often. I'm not sure why you were worried that this might piss anyone off, after all, coming from a woman, none of this is really significant...KIDDING!

Okay, now I'm dead meat...

But seriously, you make some excellent observations. For my part, I think the key to resolving some of these enduring social maladies, is to make honesty and being straighforward more popular. I'm not saying people should just lay into each other, but if you want to call me a motherfucker, well, no sense in spraying your shit with Polo Sport.

I think in a lot of cases, if we just admitted to our shortcomings as people, and made light of the situation, some of these social taboos would begin to lose their impact. Instead of battling for some kind of a Walt Disney-esque utopia, where you walk down the street saying, "Hey there you Arfican-American person of a feminine persuasion! May I make a non-sexually-motivated positive comment on your attire today?", why can't we just work on defusing all these shock words and defeat the problem at its roots.

let's talk about this more over beer sometime...

peace

Why are you apologizing, Ella? You have no reason to apologize. This is a good post. Here's some additions to your list:

If you are pissed off or angry about this post, that's sexist. If you dismiss this post because it doesn't apply to you, that's sexist.

Oh, and I would change:

"Every time you insultingly or hostilely discuss a woman in the public eye who you consider too old, or fat, or ugly to do whatever it is that she’s doing, that’s sexist."

to:

Every time you positively or negatively discuss the ability of a woman in the public eye to do whatever it is that she’s doing in terms of how old or fat or attractive she is, that’s sexist.

Peace,
-D
