Sample flickr badge
The question recently came up of whether or not it’s possible to make a flickr badge (like the one I have in the sidebar) that displays all public photos with a particular tag. I was pretty sure the functionality was built in, and in fact it is. Here is a sample badge I made showing all public images tagged with “graffiti”.
If you’re logged into flickr go to the badge builder page. After choosing whether you want an html or a flash badge, move on to step 2, choosing photos. Rather than selecting the ‘yours’ option, check the ‘Everyone’s’ option instead. Once you have done that you will see the option of displaying only photos with a certain tag. Type the tag you want in the little box. You could also choose to display only photos from a certain group if you prefer. Then continue as usual. For those whose html-fu is not particularly strong, it’s pretty safe to choose the default options for everything, but if you are hexadecimal savvy and wise in the ways of div tags it’s pretty easy to customise the thing. The process is very straightforward, my only criticism is of how difficult it is to find a link to the badge builder page from within the flickr site.
